Palomar Mountain

After rolling out to Vegas, we made our way back to San Diego on Sunday to photograph the cars and motorcycles on Palomar Mountain. I tried another turn I was testing out last weekend. I really like the turn. It’s just a bit tricky since there are shadows and some spotty areas of light. If you work it right, you can pull off some pretty good shots.

I did try out the Sound Mode on the TriggerTrap app for Android to set up a remote camera for some of the shots from the inside that you see below. I really like the TriggerTrap app, I use it for the star trail feature a lot when I have the battery life to support it. Since the Beta update they have been running, I decided to give the sound mode a go. It worked great once I got the setting all figured out. I was trying to get it set just right so normal cars wouldn’t trigger the camera but that didn’t always work out and I ended up with a lot of extra shots. One problem I had was triggering the camera early, and filling a lot of the buffer only allowing for a handful of photos of the actual bikes. I guess I could set the camera to shoot in JPEG since its just for remote shots. Overall, I love the app and using it this weekend didn’t kill my battery.

Here’s a little setup shot

You Want To Shoot A Canadian?

While I was out shooting some star trails with friends, they asked me if I wanted to join them on a shoot with a longboarder, Guillaume Moisan. We had planned to go down to blacks in La Jolla after I got done shooting Palomar Mountain, but decided we wouldn’t make it there in time. We ended up at a local hill I had never been to before. When we got there we did what we could with about an hour of light that was left before the sun dropped behind the hills.

And of course, you have a lot of downtime between runs, so I shoot random things.
