After rolling out to Vegas, we made our way back to San Diego on Sunday to photograph the cars and motorcycles on Palomar Mountain. I tried another turn I was testing out last weekend. I really like the turn. It’s just a bit tricky since there are shadows and some spotty areas of light. If you work it right, you can pull off some pretty good shots.
I did try out the Sound Mode on the TriggerTrap app for Android to set up a remote camera for some of the shots from the inside that you see below. I really like the TriggerTrap app, I use it for the star trail feature a lot when I have the battery life to support it. Since the Beta update they have been running, I decided to give the sound mode a go. It worked great once I got the setting all figured out. I was trying to get it set just right so normal cars wouldn’t trigger the camera but that didn’t always work out and I ended up with a lot of extra shots. One problem I had was triggering the camera early, and filling a lot of the buffer only allowing for a handful of photos of the actual bikes. I guess I could set the camera to shoot in JPEG since its just for remote shots. Overall, I love the app and using it this weekend didn’t kill my battery.
Here’s a little setup shot
The phone is on the ground just out of frame.
